I was just wondering if anyone has fished the nanny DH water recently? Im thinking about heading up there this weekend and wanted to get clued in on how its been fishing and what flies have been hot. Anybody seen the March Browns up there yet?.....im kinda hoping to hit that hatch this weekend if i go, one of the best hatches ive fished in the SE. Any info/advice would be great.
Thanks
Rich
Hey Rich...
I was up there a few days back with my nephew...the question is, what were they *not* taking! Being the lazy sort, I caught fish on Y2Ks and eggs and nothing else...that's all I fished. My nephew caught them on everything else...Elk Hair Caddis, Adams, stripped Woolly Buggers, Hares Ears, etc. The fish are in excellent shape up there too...my best was about a 18" 'bow.
I also saw one of our guides up there, and got a report from another that pretty much paralleled our experience. My nephew also went up to the Tuck on Sunday and did about the same as on the Nanty. Dark caddis and Poison Tungs were the ticket there.
It's a great time to be on the NC DH streams!

Could someone direct me to a website(s) that can enlighten me on fishing the Tuckaseegee and the Nanny including location of the DH, generation, etc. Both of these rivers looks very interesting, including the fact that they sound wadeable even during generation. Also the smallmouth fishing on the Tuck looks like a winner. Thanks
Howdy yaker,
Try http://www.nantahalapower.com/lakes/generation/ for generation schedules. Generation generally doesn't affect the Nantahala at all...I suppose it *could*, but I've never seen it...
I'll defer to others as far as directions...I don't have a map handy, and I wouldn't trust my rememberer to give you solid directions.
HTH some...
