Luke,
Glad you had a great time and it only took you five years to win that casting contest. Congrats.
Even though the crowd size was down, we had a great time and raised some money. Thanks everyone.

As someone who has never met this crew face-to-face I have to say they sure do know how to make a newby feel welcome!

Hey Jackster---it was good to have you with us at the Fling today. When I talked with you, I forgot that you came down from NC to be with us. Thanks for coming. I think biggatrout tied those great frogs. Thanks to all that donated and participated. Special thanks to Ga Women Fly Fishers for setting up a booth and to Kevin Cheri, Supt. of the Chattahoochee River National Park, and his family for their attendance and participation. Congrats Firewalker on your winning performance in the casting contest. Great food, great fun, great folks---see you all at Kids Fishing Event next month, Azalea Park, April 15th.

A big congratulations to "Firewalker",for not only winning the accuracy event, but also longest single poke of 92 ft. winner,of total distance by se veral feet, and and doing it during a very difficult time in his young life.......Cool, Luke, real cool! I was barely able to hang on to second place, followed by t-Boy {a 13year-old ,who will be a HUGE factor in future contests}.....with all 3 positions less than 200 points apart......or one target hit! The fun event and the NGTO spirit was most evident, in Jackster coming down from Charlotte to participate, then being overlooked by me,while he was coaching another youth thru the course...........The format was distance first,by all contestants, followed by accuracy:.......during the confusion of lunch/raffle winner announcements/score totaling/casting results ,etc,Jackster was overlooked, thus not finishing the main event! In true NGTO spirit,a brief conference with Firewalker opened the course for his run at the prize, with Jackster finishing a close 4th position.........there again,by less than 100 points out of third place! As a previous post stated,There is now an official Ga. State Fly Casting Champion, whose name will permanently be inscribed on the perpetual trophy, that will hang in the official home of the Foothills TU chapter @ Unicoi outfitters in Helen,Ga.! After Luke shows it to almost everyone in Ga.,drop by Unicoi and admire history in the making! My especial thanks to volunteers that helped in the set-up/tear down of the course......with special appreciation to Jackster,Speedbird, and EE,in acting as judges! Thanks, folks,it was my pleasure! Regards, Rocketroy
Quick note of thanks
- to the BOD for scheduling another outstanding fling
- to the S. Hudson Clan and Chuck Morris for my first tying lesson
- to Brent for the smoked pig (truly outstanding)
- to my wife for joining me for the first time at a trout related event
Other than that, just happy I did NOT enter the casting contest and get "owned" by a 13 year old......

Just want to say another great fling and thanks to all who attended. Alot of planning is involved and I appreciate the members who work hard to prepare for the event.
The Friday Night Q Team of B983, BG, and Bkarma prepping the Saturday Feast deserve a special THANK YOU!!!! Awesome as usual!
Thanks to Bill Couch for once again providing NGTO a great setting for our fling.
It was a wonderful day and I look forward to the next one.
I second that!
That was a GREAT event. Even though the turnout was lower than normal the NGTO spirit was DEFINITELY EVIDENT. It was GREAT to see some of you I haven't seen in awhile, Bigga, Ivan, Steve Hudson, Flytyfish (those flies are incredible), and others as well as meet some new faces.
Debbie and Mike - it went to a good cause :) (they'll know what I mean)
Luke - you were due man, great job - now, can you defend that title in the FALL?????
Thanks guys - that was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
CAN'T WAIT UNTIL KID FISHING DAY ON APRIL 15TH!!!!!!!
