I fished the Chattooga today from about 11:30 to 5:30. Landed 14 fish most around the 12-14" range with a few smaller. There was a hatch going on but I lack the ento knowedge to know what they were. At first I thought they might be midges coming off but then some looked to be a bit larger.

I fished a size 16 para adams with a soft hackle PT as a dropper. Almost all of the fish hit the dropper but I got a few looks and sipps at the adams.

Was anyone else on the river today? Can anyone tell me what they were and what a good pattern to "match the hatch" would have been?

Any help would be great. Thanks

Nate

Sorry, I've been out of town all week and this was the first time I could get to a computer. I fished that same day you did on the 18th. I ended up doing quite well on Elk Hair Caddis size 16. I caught a total of 13 fish with many pop offs. I like to use barbless flies, so they tend to come undone when they get airborne. I caught half of the fish on a size 18 soft hackle caddis with a size 22 dropper midge, but a majority of my hook ups came on top on that elk hair.
