View Full Version : Raper Creek
Guy told me at church that him and a couple of friends went up to raper creek and did pretty good. He really did not know a lot about the creek and how to get there. I think that the creek runs into the Soque and is public land to fish. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get up there and where to fish. I have been wanting to try it out.

I believe it is seasonal.

Most of the stream is private. The public area gets a fair amount of pressure. I think it only gets stocked at one location - end of the FS road near an old bridge. The public section of Raper is a nice area but nothing like it's confluence with the Soque. It's not hard to find, just pull a map of the Soque.

The yellow-shaded section is public water that is stocked.
There goes another one.
And it is most certainly seasonal.
Fished it last year from the waterfall back to the bridge- very narrow creek-lot of blowdowns- liked to wore me out-one trip followed the stocker truck in and had it all to myselfl-fished and let them go till I got tired.

I've avoided talking about Raper's in the past but since it's out there now I'll go ahead and tell you that the best water there is downstream of where you fished. Not much water there before you get to the private stretch but it's the most productive in both numbers and size. Unless you happen to follow the stocker truck in again. ;-)
And hello to you Skipper. Haven't seen you in a while. Hope you're enjoying the site and catching a lot of fish!
Thanks for the info. I was also wondering if there are signs showing where the private land starts. Dont want to go up there and get on private land. Thnaks again to everyone for all the help.

USFS land has RED boundary paint... look for that if in doubt (also look for posted or no trespassing signs  ).
Not many signs up there as I recall. As you walk down from the waterfall, keep a very close eye out up on the right bank ahead of you. If you look close you'll see a house after a short way but you'll have to look real close as it's up in the trees. It's the last one you pass on the road as you come in. I believe the property line is at the head of the pool in front of the house.
