Does anyone own or know anything about the Echo fly rods? The first generation rods are priced at $140. That is the same as the TFO Pro. Series rod. How do they compare in value and performance with the TFO rods?

I've never eyeballed one---but I see opinions expressed around the web. Seems the Echo gets mixed reviews. Some folks luv em, some hate em ( including one dealer that sold them for a while and said never again). Yet--if you go to TheFlyShop.com web-site in Ca, they rave about Echo in their catalog. I wud imagine that Echo, like the TFO, is an Asian product. Everyone's jumping on that bandwagon (even Winston). You might want to look at the Elkhorn rods (Asian also I think) as an alternative if you don't want a TFO. Google Elkhorn Fly Rods. They got good reviews at one of the large FF shows last year. TFO does get A++ marks for timely replacement/repair from most every corner.
