This fly first appeared on the Chattahoochee Flies DVD that was produced by the Upper Chattahoochee Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Mack Martin and John Gamble were instrumental in putting together the DVD. Brian Richterkesing tied this fly on the DVD. ed.

The flourescent orange thread is intended to glimmer through the esatz,
so don't worry about covering it completely with the esatz.

Hook: 4x streamer, size 8, 10, 12
Head: Brass cone
Weight: Lead wire or weight of choice
Thread: Flourescent orange
Body: Peach Estaz (looks like small Xmas tree rope tinsel)
Tail: Tan or Peach marabou
Flash: Rootbeer crystal flash

Instructions:

1. Thread cone on hook.

2. Attach lead wire.

3. Push lead into cone, tie down lead. Use a bit of glue here to lock
the lead into the cone.

4. Tie in marabou tail at hook bend, slightly shorter than shank length
or to preference. Use Marabou excess to build up some body along the
shank.

5. Tie in 3 - 4 strands of rootbeer crystal flash at hook bend, same
length as marabou

6. Tie in Estaz at hook bend and then wrap the thread forward.

7. Palmer Estaz forward, holding back the material as you wrap.

8. Wrap Estaz forward into cone. Use a bit of glue here to lock down
the estaz into the cone.

9. Finish with whip or half-hitches. Again, use a bit of glue to lock
down the thread.

Tied one without cone and used a grizzly hackle out of curiosity. It did well on the Ami Sunday.
