Had big plans for an assault on Jacks, but with all the precip Sat. a.m. I changed my mind at the last minute. Bushwacked into a wild stream and spent the morning, then drove over to my beloved Toot for the evening. Caught fish both streams, no biguns but had a pleasant day without many other folks.

Water temp 55.5. Medium stain decreasing throughout the day. The caddis switch was firmly in the off position, compared to last weekend. There were a few bugs, but not the swarms there coulda been. Ended up taking most of my fish on various BH droppers. Got 23 to hand and lost a good many including a good one I'm still moaning about. Best fish was 13.5" (let's say 14").

Sounds like a relaxing, productive trip. Are you going anywhere this weekend?

Grateful Sam,

That is indeed the question. I have carefully explained to my much better half the importance, the absolute necessity of April fishing. How this month above all others must be held sacred. Now I must pay for my last 2 weekends by attending (I hate to even say it) a "baby shower" this Sat. I am strongly opposed to the new liberal philosophy of male attendance at these things, but I can not escape! So...Sunday? Perhaps. I'll let you know.

"I am strongly opposed to the new liberal philosophy of male attendance at these things, but I can not escape! "

I almost got roped into one of those a few months ago. I called up the father to be and gave him my thoughs on the issue- several of my buddies did the same. As a result, the "couples" aspect of the baby shower was eliminated. What red-blooded man would ever want to go to a baby shower? Did that thought ever enter the minds of the girls who dream these things up?

Untill May 15 my weekends are gonna be spent in the woods chasing turkeys. After that, I'll look forward to getting together with y'all on the stream. I appreciate the invite for sure.

Came over with some guys and fished around Ellijay on saturday..I realized that you would be in the woods after different game..Met up with Ritchie27 and Treefrog...Both are stand-up guys and both can fish..I am heading back over in 2 weeks.....Sorry to hi-jack your thread FlyG..Those are some pretty fish, good chance we passed on the roads..You don't drive a Mercedes M Class do you? That's the only other vehicle I saw on the water...

I know it GSam... many times I've been sitting in the woods after 3 hours of not hearing a single gobble and said to myself "I wish I had gone trout fishing this weekend". Turkey hunting is an addiction that often leads to irrational behavior.

You mean irrational like spending all day casting a tiny clump of feathers to catch 8" fish that you release? Come on, turkey hunting is a fine and noble pastime.

If we're gonna start knockin some sport, can we start with golf? I think all reasonable folks can agree that it is irrational and a waste of time:)

Why take out all your frustration on a little white ball? I'd rather watch paint dry. Seriously. If my wife thinks fishing is expensive, try golf for a while. Yikes!

I was a golfer in a past life. When I was in grad school we could walk nine at the UGA course for $7 and I played 3 or 4 times a week. After graduation I realized that I couldn't afford to golf in the real world. The feeling of a pure iron shot is a mighty good one, but nothing compared to seeing a big ole brown hammer a streamer. The only thing better IMHO is rolling up a gobbler.
Its all better than work!!!!!!
