I've caught some big rainbows on the Soque usually on private land by permission. Nothing that would touch that, atleast not by a few pounds.
I caught my biggest Rainbow on public land last year and finally had to have it mounted after stalking him all season, That one would swallow mine! But hey it was sentimental I was as proud of 3 1/4 lbs. bow caught by the bridge than some of the 6-7 lbs. caught on private land. Goodness I don't where that was that sucker is HUGE!!!!!! CONGRATS

to fish a private section with rocketroy and lemme tell ya Honest to god i hooked a fish as big or bigger than that. i pulled in one or two in the 6 pound range well over 20 inhces and and a couple smaller unfortunatel lol .... but this fish made then look and feel weak it even jumped giving me a heartattack when it the water sounding like someone dropped a boulder off a cliff. that river has enormous fish in it.

Why do the fish get so big in the Soque as opposed to other streams in the Southeast? Is there plenty of water to fish if I drove down there? I've caught some nice fish on the Clinch, but nothing like that. Looks like fun.

i was fishing on privite land, with permission. i would not recommend fishing privite land without permission.

The fish get so big because they are fed daily. And, the fact that almost 100% of that river is privately owned and catch-and-release only, that means that the fish are protected from being harvested, so they get old, fat and stay happy.
