Spent a few days up in Virginia around Shendandoah NP. Headquartered at the Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria, VA. Within 30 minutes of the lodge, was the Conway, Rapidan, Rose, Richardson and smaller streams. Fished the first three within the park boundary. Caught plenty of Brook Trout, all in the 5-6" up to 11" inches. The streams were very much like ours, especially the Tallulah...freestone, with truck to house size boulders, plunging and pooling water. Hippers were all that was needed but a willingness to climb up and over frequently. As with Georgia and NC Brookies, if they didn't know you were there, they hit just about anything with terrestials a favorite. A little careless with your wading and those little shadows darted in all directions. It was a most enjoyable experience.
I can't say too much about Graves Mountain Lodge. Convenient. Comfortable. Great and plentiful food. They have accomodations for any size group or individual. www.gravesmountain.com (http://www.gravesmountain.com) :)

There are really some great streams in that area. I lived up there for a couple of years. If anyone is going up there I might also recommend Mossy Creek, several creeks in the George Washington Forest, and also don't pass up a chance at small mouths on the Shenandoah. There are also some great fly shops with knowlegeable staffs, Mossy Creek Outfitters, Blue Ridge Anglers, and Harry Murray's fly shop to name a few.
Tight Lines to all.
