View Full Version : Dukes Creek 5/3 and 5/7
Shine Taylor and I fished Dukes this morning and did quite well in the downpoor. It rained on us pretty much all morning and we still managed to catch around 10 fish. The fishing was heating up around noon, once the rain stopped and the water had a bit of stain to it. I wish we could have fished the afternoon but we had to get back to work. We caught fish in sections 3 and 4 with a variety of caddis, a soft hackle pattern worked the best.
Here are some pics of my trip Wed. and Sun. to Dukes.

That picture on the second row where the fish wiggled just in time for the picture is really cool. It's like he wanted to face the camera for the picture. man I need to go fishing soon!

Yeah right I bet you sat tight in one spot all day....don't try to decieve us. Glad you got the pictures. Finals are almost done. Are you still going up on Wednesday?
Nate
Nate,
We actually did move around yesterday, however we did catch 4 or 5 good fish in our usual spot. I caught 2 fish in two casts under the Martin's Mine bridge as well. The water was high and stained so you could stand on top of the fish.
Im still planning on going up Wed. What is your schedule for the rest of the week? I have Tue, Wed, and Thur., off and might hit the Chattooga one of those days.

I know that spot and I know the feeling, I like to explore new areas almost as much as I like to catch fish but when you know you're gonna hook into some slabs every time you fish it, it's hard to avoid the stupid hole. I call it the stupid hole because it's the only spot I know of where the fish just don't seem to spook and you can catch a lot of fish. It's the only hole I can consistently catch fish from at Dukes. Every other area I fish at Dukes the fish seem to spook as soon as the fly hits the water or maybe I just haven't figured out this stream.

I have never fished there before and would love to know where the "stupid" hole is... Yet asking almost feels like cheating. Any fly suggestions?
