Went over to this creek today around 3pm, Gilmer county. Wanted to check out a land sale on the creek (178 ac with 4000' on the creek). It came a hard rain with some hail for maybe 20 min. That creek turned mud red. Also noticed that several of the larger rocks close to the banks had alot of silt on them. Drove on up in around some of the headwater streams. Cannot believe how people are building around in the back country, up against FS property. The lots looked to be 1/2 ac with a plywood shack or camper sitting on them. Red muddy water running down the county roads and I'm sure right into the creeks. What a mess!

If you don't mind my asking, what was the price on that property? My in-laws have some deep roots in that area.

Speck, who are your in-laws? My grandparents had property on the Tickanetley right off of Roy Road and we are pretty much related to everyone in that area (Weaver, Southern, Cantrell, Garret, etc.)

Speck...all the property did not sell. Some went at, I think, $8000 up to $17,000 (on the creek) per ac. How close are you kin to Roger and Dennis Mooney? I went to school with those two.

A friend of my wife's is marrying Jim Stover who owns Rich Mt. Realty in Ellijay. Are you kin to him? His family is from the Roy Rd. area.

Nice, we'd always go up to Mooneys' store way up on Roy Road to buy lures and stuff.
