Yeah buddy... there are a number of fine streams around sliding rock, including the Davidson. If I am not mistaken, sliding rock in on Looking Glass Creek, which offers pretty good fishing for little streamborn fish.

I was up that way last weekend and there are definetely some really nice streams up that way. It was my first time in that area, so I didnt know a whole bunch and stopped in at the Davidson River Outfitters. I would stop in there, its on 276 N right as you are about to enter the Pisgah National Forest. They gave me lots of info on where to fish and what was working. The water is VERY low and clear, so fishing was tough, by I managed fish from the DH section of the East Fork of the French Broad, and then the Davidson. Avery creek and Looking glass were also right in the area, but where so low I imagine the fish are incredibly stressed and the fishing would be very hard. If you fish the Davidson, the main river, below the junction with Avery creek is easy access off 276, just try to get on the water before all the tubers, campers, swimmers, etc. and you should catch fish. I didnt get any browns in that section, but I caught 5-6 wild bows. Above the4 confluence with Avery creek the water is smaller, but less overall people. I fished by the hatchery and caught some BIG fish, saw lots more, and had a good time. This water again is very low, and there were alot of people fishing, so hit it early AM or late PM for your best chance and to go easiest on the fish. Good luck...its beautiful up there!!
