Well, it's been a very busy time since my last report. Work is insane, but I have managed to fish a bit.

I had the family out for Spring Break. Number one son Sam caught this Springer (spring run Chinook) on his first day out:

We stayed most of the week in a cabin on the foothills of Mt Hood. Here is number 2 son Dane out with me in the row boat:

This is what is in the lake, a taped 26" brooder. It was windy, and I was throwing a spoon on a little ulta-light spinning rod with 4 lb test. This thing towed me half way across the lake before I released it:

I went down to Eugene to visit family, and spent a morning on the McKenzie River. I got skunked, but enjoyed the beautiful river. The McKenzie is where the driftboat that we all recognize was developed. Check out this riverbed, this has 18” of water flowing over it. Talk about gin clear:

I went back to the White Salmon River in April, where I had caught a couple of steelhead in the winter. I didn’t hook any fish, but did get an up close and personal visit from this buck. You can just see the buds of his antlers popping out. He came within about 12 feet of me before moving on. Too cool:

Here is a 20 lb Springer I caught on a sponsored guide trip on the Sandy River. If you look closely, you will notice that it has no adipose fin. This is how stocked salmon and steelhead are marked, if it has it's adipose fin, it is wild and must be released. This fish is very tasty:
