Went to visit an old buddy in pennsylvania and we went on a series of road trips including trips to valley creek, ridley creek, yellow breeches creek and the letort spring run. Had the best luck on yellow breeches. The nice thing about yellow breeches and the letort is that they are catch and release, artificial only, the downside to that, is that the fish are extremely smart and have seen everything in the book thrown at them. I saw multiple 25+ browns rising around me but could not get a rise. Amazingly enough I had one monster slam my strike indicator in one section. Did manage a few good sized browns and rainbows on assorted patterns. There is a good sized limestone spring that flows right out of the ground and flows into the yellow breeches. Its a good 15 degrees colder than the main stream and you can see fish stacked up all through there. I started the day off throwing a hopper pattern with a midge dropper and along that seam where the two waters meet, I hooked into a 20+ brown on the midge dropper, after a good fight the hook pulled right out to my devastation. But all in all it was a good trip, The letort is such a beautiful and historic stream that it was worth the gas money just to see it.

I agree!

Went and spent a week in that area a couple of years ago. That spring creek you speak of is like DH fishing here. Fished just stacked up!

The Letort humble me...............:( But, boy, was it beautiful!

Spent the rest of the week on Penns CReek, and surrounding area. Just went too late for the Green Drakes, but oh well!

I use to live in NJ and fish that area and the waters around State College several time's a year, some of the prettiest water in the country. Letort spring run can be really tough, but fishes well in the fall for some of those big agressive spawning browns. Next time you are in Penn, try the Little Juniata, sweet smallish stream with some big time fish. Fishing creek is also another favorite, and spring run is beautiful as well. I havent been to PA in a few years, but hearing about your trip is getting me scheming!!!!

Yeah, we went to Spring Run and Fishing Creek too. Wanted to hit the L. Juanita, but didn't have time.

Those spring creeks really are something. Never seen water so clear!

We camped at Poe Paddy Campground. You know it? Caught a bunch of crappie out of the lake there!

That name actually sounds familiar, I know I have never been there but I think some of my buddies my have camped there a few years back when we were fishing PA. That water truly is remarkable, clear as gin and very deceptive.
