If this falls under something that we are not supposed to post about, I am sorry and a moderator can delete it. I thought it was a good email::::::

Let's say I break into your house

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!!!
It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors.
I've done all the things you don't like to do.
I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me and to my family
(my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself.
I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house.

And what a deal it is for me!!!
I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah,
I DEMAND that you to learn MY LANGUAGE!!!
so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America .....if you agree, pass it on (in English). Share it if you see the value of it.

If not blow it off......... along with your future Social Security funds, and a lot of other things.

I'll entertain you.

Imagine this same scenario, but reverse it. That's what America originally did to Mexico. Instead of picking up arms to take it back, they are doing the most peaceful thing possible. Sneak back over, set up shop, and live a productive happy life on land that was murdered away from their ancestors many many decades ago.

What do you think about that?

I think you forgot to take your meds.

That may be so, but all the same, you really should look up some history on the American-Mexican border. They call themselves "Reconquistadors" for a reason, as opposed to 'Conquistadors".

And by the way, the surest way to make sure your political topic gets nixed is to insult opposing viewpoints instead of carrying an intelligent respectful conversation.

Since when was Atlanta, Ga or Burlington NC on the Mexican border?

Good point, but I guess it comes down to a philosophical debate that noone will win, whether or not a landscaper ought to be free to hire who he wants for what he wants that will show up a 5 in the morning and work until 5 in the evening, to be competitive in his industry, or whether or not our imaginary lines through real land ought to be enforced at the point of a gun.

Yep..... there are alot of dumb laws on the books. How 'bout the blue laws? How 'bout the war on drugs? One thing is for sure, there is a reason the ILLEGALS would rather be here than in their own country. For some reason they can't get it right on the other side of the "imaginary line". Maybe if enough of them come over here, they can screw up our country too. :shake:

That is a very touching point but since then there was new goverments formed in both countries and new agreements between both. The bottom line is that NOBODY is telling them they cannot come here and live the American dream. What is being said is that you must come here legally if that is your intent.

I do not think that is too much to ask or even unreasonable. If the issue was a simple as "They want to come here and live the dream", why do they keep taking their earnings back there and live off them doing nothing until they run out and then "Sneak" back over here. Here's a thought, think your goverment and country stinks? How about demonstrating there and adrress the real issue?:bang:

Mexico is on the brink of a really serious problem with their election woes/controversy and the idea of setting up a "parallel government". Sound familar Jefferson Davis? And that could be bad news as far as traffic of illegals into this country. As far illegals already here, I have to play both sides. I fight for the hispanic children in our schools because they have no one else. 99% of the time, their parents aren't helping them, especially when they start asking them to get full time jobs at 13/14 or tell them it's ok to look for a husband at that age. They can't comprehend that the society they grew up in is not feasable here. That's why there are so many hispanic gangs now and so many communities within communities that are almost entirely self-serving yet dependent on contractors who want cheaper labor. IMO, the reason these workers get a reputation for working harder is because they do, but it is out of pure necessity. Without that effort and willingness to work long hours, they aren't going to get to work for cash, i.e. they can make the rent. I hate that! I am all for shipping them out if they are illegal and properly charging them with the felony on the books. The economy would definitely take a hit but would certainly be worth it for me.

And I'll mention this again for those who haven't heard me rant about it before. Finally, well, 2 years ago after over 400 years of fighting it, our gov't made English the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE. Had we done that 200 years ago, I don't think the language barrier would be as big of an issue, still big, just not AS BIG. People have the mindset that we are a "melting pot" and it's very true but that leads people to believe they can do anything they want here and expect everyone else to adjust to how they feel, and that's BS. I can be tolerant of some things but getting in an uproar because companies providing services these people need don't provide everything in their language..... I get sick and tired of them coming to me for help at my job (school) trying to enroll their kids and can't even get their immunization records and other important documents taken care of themselves. Half the time I have to call the Health Department MYSELF to get kids enrolled. I'll do it every time because I want the kids here learning English and other things they need to know to be succesful in life and they certainly have little ability to help themselves when their parents are that lazy. :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: I love the Spanish language and the societies that speak it and the culture that comes with it. The problem lies with our own government unfortunately and of course the many failures of the Mexican government. Until we stop giving slaps on the wrist and free handouts to these people who don't have to pay taxes, it won't change. The government lately has completely wussed out because they are afraid of losing a little $$$. Totally worth it to me and I will continue to vote for officials pushing the envelope when it comes to cracking down on illegals. Just a random note: In my 4 years teaching school, I've dealt with hundreds dozens of hispanic families and these issues. Go figure that the only 3 families who seemed to really be doing well and functioning in our society outside of their own communities and who speak decent English or are at least trying and who I never had to help with anything....are LEGAL!

Enough soap-boxing for now....Buchannan 2008! JK :p He's a little too extreme even for me....
