Fished the Nantahala DH yesterday. Caught a number of nice chunky 'bows in the 14" - 16" range on a black bugger w/ pheasant tail dropper rig fished on the bottom in the deepest holes. The highlight though, was all the small 6" - 8" brook trout taken on a dry fly emerger... a #20 BWO spotlight emerger, fished on a 5X leader with an extra 24" of 6X tippet added. There were countless fish sipping emerging bugs in the slower waters below the riffles and everyone brought to hand was a beautifully colored brookie. Those NC hatchery fish are unbelievable!
