i am going on a white bass trip to texas at the begging of next month and was wondering if someone could show me some flies that might work ( ie anything extemle bright) i normally use road runners size 1/16 or roster tails but this will be my first time trying the long road! Anything will be helpfull.

If you have good luck with roadrunners I'd bet a small Cowen's Coyote would work great. A Clouser with some flash would probably work good. As would a white Sparkle Grub....
I haven't caught a white bass in ages - bet they would be a blast on a flyrod.
Good luck!!
I fish the white bass run on the Oconee and other rivers here in Georgia and have had luck using a variety of flies. Mostly I use some sort of variation on the Clouser Minnow. The way its tied the hook rides up and it doesn't snag as much. Plus it is a weighted streamer which gets it down to the level where the fish are. They seem to hit in the 2-5 foot deep range on the Oconee. White, chartreause, yellow and silver are the colors to focus on if they are eating minnows in Texas.
The key is to imitate whatever they are eating. Gizzard shad on the Oconee are usually about 2-4 inches long and silvery white in color. Find a streamer or woolly bugger or something that matches their food and you are good to go.

HHH,
I don't know where you're fishing in TX, but based on my experiences fishing for them in AR, I would say Riser is right on. I never had a need to fish anything but the Clouser, tied hook-up, like Riser suggests. One more color you might try that I've had a lot of success on is white with a brown back. In the water, it sort of resembles the Arkansas shiner color you see in soft plastics. I've done really well on it, even in very stained water. Also, anywhere a tributary enters the main river, fish it thoroughly. Sometimes they stack up by the hundreds at the mouth of creeks. Good luck!
