The annual TU Tailwater Chapter Smith Creek Work Day will be on Saturday 21 April 2007. We would appreciate some volunteers to assist. We usually work in the morning, enjoy lunch provided by Tailwater, and then fish out the rest of the day if work is completed. It's always a good time and for some newbies, it's a time to get some on the water instructions from some of the more seasoned folks. Heck, Dredger usually shows up.....At Lunch... ::ke:
Windknot, you will be the supervisor this year.

Will get you a 4x4 and you'll be set. Your finger still works doesn't it?::ke:
We going to do ribs again this year?;)
I don't expect so. I think that was just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Ok sign me up....I have been wanting to hit a few small streams in the area anyways.
Cheers,
Chris B.
Besides it will give me an excuse to swing by Unicoi and pick up some much needed supplies.

Hey Chris... as of now, i'm a go (subject to family schedule approval)... there are several streams in the area that need to be "sampled" after the workday ;)

Come on up. Work day will be fun.. There are more than a few "secret" streams to hit after. In fact, with good knowledge, MR. DREDGER usually leaves lunch looking for some participants.

TEE,
If my invite to Childers (Age 15) doesn't come to fruition, I will more than willing to fish the "I don't believe I said" stream with you.

I'd be there, but I have to sit for my Land Surveying License exam that Friday and Saturday. I should be able to make the Chatooga one.

Talked to Lee Keefer today about the project. It's a 40 foot cover ledge of logs for the first project. He has another project in his hip pocket in case we have enough volunteers. What do you say? I say lets complete both projects!

I received a call today concerning the work day. The Friends of Unicoi have offered to provide the meal. I need to get a pretty good acount ofthe folks that will be there to let them plan for food.

Come on guys... with new members signing up every day for the last several months/years, it would be embarassing to have less than 20-25 NGTO workers there... it's time to give something back to the streams we use.
NGTO is not just a message board...
I put out a challenge to the new guys... to outshow the old guys here ;)... if you show up, you'll gain more than you give.

Maybe we should say old members, new members... lol :D ... especially since Beth signed up, we cant say guys any more... Beth, looking forward to meeting you and Jack.
btw, the new members are still skunked... this is a good opportunity to meet members of this board community... and maybe go fishing with them... you "guys" are really missing out.

Try to get there at 8 am. Bring waders and gloves. All other equipment will be provided. When you get to the lodge, tell them that you are there for the TU work day and they will give you a parking pass. We usually park down at the intern cabins on the creek.

Make sure they're cotton gloves... if you bring waterproof/deerskin gloves, you'll be sorry
Russ... we're working below the dam, right?
btw, thanks for signing up Frosh.

It's now up to 18 folks associated with NGTO. I'll need to call Unicoi Friends tommorrow in order to prepare for more food. Lee, looks like you can pull your other project out of your pocket. Will probably be around 30 folks there now based on information received.

If NGTO, a group whose primary purpose is "informational", brings more folks to this work project than my Tailwater TU chapter, I'm going to be sure to make it to that meeting next Tuesday to ::ke: .
Russ, I hope we have that nifty gas powered pile driver that was at the Water's Creek work day. Trey "John Henry" Barrett may not need it, but I sure liked it.
I have a little league game at three so I may have to head out about 12:30. I'll be there ready to go at 8;00AM. See everybody there.

Dad nor myself will be able to be there this year - I will be in meetings all day and he will be working at the house.
I hope all goes well, and send me a report, Russ, that I can include in the ORCTU newsletter.

Same third Saturday in April?
The NGTO KFD is scheduled for April 12th next year. I wanted to actually try and get these things coordinated early for once.
