Hook: Mustad S71S ss (Any 1 or 2 XL streamer hook will work)
Eyes: Dazl Eyes 5/32 (Any barbell eyes will work)
Upper Body: Olive buck tail
Belly: White Speckled Chenille
Tail: White buck tail
Thread: White 3/0

Tying Instructions:

1) Place hook in vise and build up a nice thread base.

2) Place eyes near the top 1/3 of the hook. Apply a drop of super glue or head cement and add a few figure eight wraps to prevent twisting.

3) Tie in white bucktail on top of hook, securing behind the eyes. Wrap all the way back near the bend, and then secure in front of the eyes forming a smooth taper. Remember, sparse is good.

4) Tie in chenille and wrap forward toward the eyes. Secure chenille and flip hook over.

5) Tie in a few strands of Krystal flash, 3-5 is good. Secure in front of the eyes and double back towards the rear of the fly.

6) Tie in olive bucktail, securing only in front of the eyes. This allows more movement while in the water.

7) Whip finish once or twice. Apply a coat of head cement, epoxy, or super glue. I used Sally Hansen’s “Hard as Nails”. This adds a little durability to the fly.

Fishing Techniques:

I don’t think there is a wrong way to fish the Clouser Minnow. Personally I like to hop it along the bottom. But it works well in all parts of the water column. Try alternating between quick strips and slight pauses. The fish will let you know how they like it.
