Just back from Mexico Beach

We just got back from Mexico Beach, FL and I didn't do too badly. I fished just inside the second sand bar in an inflatable raft. Used a Galvan 8 spooled with Cortland 7wt line with a nearly ancient 9 ft 8 wt St. Croix rod. Made 4 ft tippets out of Seaguar GrandMax flourocarbon tippet material, 8x. Friday morning I fished a pink and silver shrimp imitator and caught a couple of ladyfish. Switched to a blue/black/silver mylar "baby mackerel" . I started catching bluefish right and left. I caught over 50 in about three hours from dawn til around 9 a.m. Most were 12 to 15 inches, however I did hook one about 30 inches. It was headed toward Cuba with a significant portion or my terminal tackle the last time I saw it. I did get it close enough to see the size. It was a pretty nice 'un!

Congrats. That get's me smellin' salt water and lime. Not a bad combination, Hope you enjoyed it as much as you seemed to in your post.
