Hi, There is a beautiful campground run by Corps just below the dam called "Dam Site" but it is on the Norfork, not the North Fork. This runs into the Akansas River. I think we are talking about the same place, if we are here are some facts.
Great camground, water and electric at every site, nice bath house with showers, great river sites and good fishing. Prices were good last time we were there (3 years ago, $12). Beautiful area, large trees, all back in sites, new area the sites are larger, old area has concrete pads, all have concrete tables, BBQ grills and fire pits, new area nice gravel site, no sewer but they have a dump, good and level, we loved it. I'm looking for the North Fork, which is part of the White River system near Norfork and Mountain Home Arkansas.

The Norfork River flows into the conflunce of the White River....... its some fantastic fishery! We floated it twice and done very well with streamers/ large Wooly Buggers and Mr.Coppers along with Sculpin patterns...... the river is full of large Sculpins!!!!!!! Up close to the Dam you catch Brookies as large as 5 lbs........ down river you will land Cutties and Bows and Browns.... the White River is tough when their generating..... also its dangerous!!!!!!!! fast water!!!! But when it moving slow it fishes also very well! If you need a guide their I have a friend that guides on these rivers....... look up www.flyflinger.com ask for Scott .. he uses Mohagany Driftboats...... also check www.whiteriver.net/northfork

Fwhitaker, I think we are talking about the same river just as Lambster describes. We always fished at the campground below the dam and it was great. Some good fishing in Arkansas. Good luck, Linda
