Hello all,

Will be staying in a cabin next weekend on White Oak Creek (near the Nantahala) and would greatly appreciate anyones suggestions on good places to trout fish nearby. PM, if needed.

Thanks,
Craig

I went up 10 day ago. We had luck in the morning right in front of the NOC. Used tellico nymph (local fly) bought from the NOC shop. Caught browns, bows, and one little brookie (stocker). Be out of the river by 10:30 when the "wave" comes from the dam release. Very cold water (less than 50 deg. F).

Heard that Alarka Creek is a good area, heavily stocked. Check the stocking schedule at: http://www.wildlife.state.nc.us/pg03_Fishing/stocking/stock_swain.pdf

Be sure to have your NC license and trout stamp.

Good luck!
