Unofficial response - you guys have done a great job proving that negative publicity is better than no pubilicity. A simple and honest answer to a direct question would have disappeared long ago and not garnered much interest, if any at all except for the two parties involved, if not for the bumping.

I agree but this thread was done with until boom the thread is back up top. I know that some people go a little to far about stream naming ( like getting mad about naming delayed haverest streams and saying that you did well. But I agree that naming wild streams should not be allowed for a couple reasons.
1. It is against the rules.
2. It will get fished out.
3. Trash will start occuring around the steams.
To me these three reasons should keep people from naming small/wild streams on a public message board. Maybe instead of saying you can not name any wild steams the BOD should meet together and tell us the names of the rivers we can say and any other river/creek can not be said. I think any delayed harvest river/creek should be okay to talk about. I sure the BOD can think of more. Just a suggestion that may could be helpful.

I whole-heartedly agree about NOT naming small streams here on NGTO; however, I'm not sure, technically, that it is against the rules to do so. If the rule is the "sticky" on the small stream thread, then I read it that members should- 1) "be wary of" and 2) "refrain from posting sensative stream names." The definition of wary refers to excercising "keen caution- watchful prudence" while the definition of refrain refers to "resisting doing something." Sorry, but I do not read the "sticky" as an absolute "DO NOT do it or you are out of here." If it was the intent of the BOD to just discourage this activity, then I can understand why this thread has not been removed. It shouldn't be. I think we need to know what the intent of "the rule" is, and I wish any "openendness" of it could be removed. I realize that later in the statement it is stated that, "The administrators of this website support this position and have posted here what was up until this time an unwritten rule concerning the most sensitive of Georgia's streams." But again, the rule, as I read it, is to just "refrain" and "be wary" of doing it. I agree with bow about coming up with a list of names; however, I think that could be done just by coming up with a list of streams that can be named. If it ain't on the list and you name it, then you are gone. I realize this could be cumbersome but doable. If it is the intent to absolutely not allow the naming of streams, then let's call it just that and do it. If the intent was to just discourage it, then expect a whole lot more "bumping" and unnecessary name calling.
