hey guys...here are some pictures form our trip up to deadhorse this past weekend...4 of my buddies and I were Caribou hunting but we came home empty handed. Since I don't have my bow certification yet we had to hike out 5miles off the road to hunt and boy was it brutal...the tundra is like walking on a wet...marshy...mattress. We saw a fair amount of caribou but once we walked out all we saw were cows...and right now its Bulls only until 10 Aug...but the trip def. was one to remember!

here are the pictures

hey orange hat....aka huntfish...:) that bull was right inside the no hunting area once you arrive in deadhorse...or he would be in the freezer right now...once I get by bow cert out of the way this weekend...we're gonna make another trip up there maybe in 2 weeks and we can bring some home :cross:

Thanks for the report & photos, Richie. I'm gonna owe you a cold beer or two for the trips you share with us. It makes my office look less like a swamp when I've burned my eyeballs on caribou, scenery and cool fish (in another post.)

Get after them. Here's a little trick if you have another hunter with you. After the shot, stay still....herd usually runs around and often times returns to the same location offering the second hunter a shot. Good luck.

I had to look up where Deadhorse and Coldfoot are. Both of those would qualify in my book as the middle of nowhere with Deadhorse being just a little further.

TroutOn, where you able to fish while up there?

Richie, nice scenery shots. I can't tell from the shot, is that a coyote or a wolf?

Working wasnt bad...i was waiting/bartending/air traffic control/hotel check in guy..etc
worked 4-5 days a week and hitchhiked/hiked/fished/climbed the rest of my time there. It was amazing. Spent most of my fishing time on Jim River 2 and 3, got into some grayling and pike there. biggest grayling was 18.5 inches. Made it up to Anaktuvik, which was cool. Took a flight to Barrow too..
I was actually supposed to stay longer, but I had some health circumstances that forced me to come home early. That part of the world you cant really be anything less than 100% while being out in the bush. Are you still up there now?
