South Fork of the Holston

Fished the S. Fork of the Holston a few days ago; fished with two good buddies (Smitty and Guitou) took a few pics for my new book. Here are a few shots from the river. The trout/reel photo was sadly lacking the person who caught it in the photo, he was busy taking the pic. Lots of trout around 18", largest was a 24-25" brown. All on dries. Fishing was tough; long casts and 14' leaders down to 6x.

Great trip. Just wanted to share.

Wow, great trip. I could handle a 25" brown on a dry right about now.

YEAH. It didn't seem right me not going on our annual trip up there with you and Smitty. This work stuff is for the birds. That looks about the same size as the Toccoa fish, except maybe not quite as fat. Nice hook jaw on that one fish. E-mail me some more pictures if you got em. Next year all of us are going to MT and fish with the Hal man. No excuses.

BFB, yeah you missed a great trip. I will say we had two so-so days followed by one that was gangbusters.

I think your Toccoa fish was fatter, this guy was thick, wait till ya see the pics I'm emailing to ya.

I fished the South Holston last weekend. In the three hours I fished, I landed 4 and missed another three. It was my first trip there, so I was just trying to get to know the river. All of the fish I landed were rainbows in the 10"-12" range. The cool part is that the fish were rising the whole morning, even after TVA started generating. I used a BWO most of the time (forgot to get sulphurs). I also used a Tellico and caddis pulpa. Both caught a fish. I'm from Kingsport, so I will be going back.
