I had hoped it was here somewhere and had prayed it had not been "chucked" by an overzealous cleaning wife and today I finally re-discovered it. A Winchester 6030 'boo rod. Its in rough shape: warped, the first two guides are missing, there are some dings to the finish and the tip's ferrule is gone. On the other hand it seems like an old rod worth refurbishing. I'm not sure, but the reel seat and ferrules appear to possibly be nickle-silver. The rod has thin wrappings its whole length-some of which are missing-not just at the guides and ferrules. I have two basic questions... well ok, three. 1. How old is this rod? 2. Was it made by Edwards for Winchester and 3.Who are some craftsman I could commission to refinish it? I have neither the time or knowledge to do it myself.

Thanks in advance,
Mickey

The rod you have is probably a Eustis Edwards/Winchester made before 1935, (possibly pre-1924). It is not easy to tell without pictures. It is definitely worth restoring, and should be quite fishable. If you can post pics here it would help in positive ID and give you more info.

Check out http://clarksclassicflyrodforum.yuku.com/ for more info. Several of these guys are in the restoration business.
