... ...a rodmaker in New Jersey, who built 'boo rods and tied flies, with the last name of Hyman? My father gave me a rod made by this man. I knew the man's son - his name was Elmer - in the mid 1970's and he was middle aged at that time. His father had a fly fishing or fishing store in NJ, I'm assuming somewhere between the 1920's and 1960's. This rod is gorgeous and fishes beautifully but has no markings. I'm just trying to find out anything I can about the maker.

Thanks,

Mickey

Mickey,

That is a maker I have never heard of. The only rod builder from New Jersey that I am familiar with is Jerry Clark of Midland Park. Mr. Clark was known for his Penta (5-sided) cane rods and I am fortunate to own one of his 7 foot 4 weight Penta's.

You should post your question over on Clark's Classic Rod forum Here is a link to the Classic Rod site: http://clarksclassicflyrodforum.yuku.com/
. One of the guys over there might have heard of this Hyman fellow. Best of luck in your quest.
