I know we have a couple of stickys about the Bamboo Gathering and BarBQ, but just to give an update, heres one more.
The fishing spots for High Meadows are filling fast. I'm waiting on Bill to get back to me with a cutoff number....
Bar B Q will be served at Oyster's shop at 5:00 PM. There will be a tour/open house to view and get more familiar with the actual making of a bamboo rod. This will give everyone time to fish, and make it to the shop in plenty of time....
If you didn't sign up to fish, or if you can't make the fishing, you can still come to the BBQ. All are invited, no need to bring anything other than an appetite. Everything is provided by Bill and his wife Shannen....
We will be raffling a Montegue Splitswitch rod, tickets available the day of the gathering. If anyone has any raffle items, please bring them and we'll give it away. Anything flyfishing/bamboo will be accepted.

Other info will be posted here as time approaches. I will be out of towm next week with a Senior Adults trip to Niagra Falls area, so look for an update next weekend, hopefully.

OK, I double checked the stream limit at High Meadows. We have both stretches reserved and the limit is 14 anglers. So please let us know if you won't be able to fish that morning, since it looks like there's going to be a waiting list. We may also want to consider a secondary location if some folks can't get in, or maybe just don't want to pay the cover charge. The Noontootla isn't too far from there. Remember, there is no limit for the get-together afterwards here at my home workshop. After a day of fishing the free BBQ and cold drinks should hit the spot. Of course we'll also take that time to compare rods, do some casting in the front yard, and check out my rodmaking methods. Hope to see everyone there!

Bill, a quick question concerning high meadows. I am signed up to fish but had a question about bringing my 9 year old son along. Collectivly we'd only be one rod (he's still in the "learning to cast" phase), and it would be a real kick for him to tag along. The High Meadows website shows kids 12 and under fishing free. Do you know if I can expect that to be the case for the bamboo get together as well?

Any help is appreciated.

CharrDad,

I'm sure the same rule will apply, so bring your son along and maybe we can get him into a good fish!

Bill, I would be willing to give up my spot, if I can still get some video and photography there. I guess it will also depend on if my rod is finished by then.

Do they charge by the person, or by the rod? If it's by the rod then the price and fishing time can be split between two anglers. This will also make it possible to accomidate more anglers, but the number of people fishing at any given time will still be the same.
This is how we do it when I guide at Blackhawk. A father/son or husband/wife only pay for one rod if only one at a time will be fishing.
