how to fix the problem with my cracked ferrules on the Monty. It was simple. I just got a new Boo!

It's a Phillipson Peerless impregnated 7' 2/2 5 wt. Probably made around 1979 or 1980. It has walnut reel seat. It's probably familiar to some of you guys as Rich's dad was the original owner. Thanks Rich for getting me in touch with your dad. the past few weeks have been fun swapping stories. It's funny, but the rod has come back home to Sugar Hill. I can't wait to get out and try it out.

I guess now I can focus on replacing the ferrules on the Monty.

Great looking boo, especially against that red background. Throw in a little black and make it look even better! Interested in baptizing it Saturday?

Jeff:

I'd love to drown a few flies on Saturday, but I'll be at Unicoi OAD.

Bret,

As a fellow member of the fledgling NGTO Phillipson Peerless Fan club, let me say that you just became the owner of one great bamboo fly rod. Your rod and mine were part of the last batch Phillipson rods to come out of the Denver factory before they shut it down. Who knows, maybe they were split from the same culm! Can't wait to see her in person.

PS: if you find yourself jonsing for an original Phillipson tube for your rod, let me know as I know where you can probably get one.

Ouch!!! That thing is nearly impossible to look at now with that awful background!!!! Why would you want to put such a nice looking rod against such an ugly color???

Yeah, but if you look real close, you can still see a smidge of that Bulldog Red coming through that gator blue. Hard to keep a good dawg down!

Glad you are enjoying the rod, I have fished it a handful of times and it really is a delight to cast and fish. I found it most useful when fishing tightly choked streams and wanting to throw chunky dries like Humpy's and Stimulators. It really has the muscle to punch flies under low hanging rodo, and since its a 7 foot it is practical on the smaller streams.

Enjoy it, and welcome to the Phillipson club!!!
