This is George Harvey's favorite dry fly as stated in his book "George Harvey-Memories, Patterns and Tactics" He states that it is one of the best flies he has ever used on Brookies. He says that he doesn't know why trout have a preference for black flies, but that he has always had good success with them. He first tied this fly in the late 1920's.
The original "Adams" was designed by Len Halladay for his friend C.F. Adams in 1922.
