View Full Version : Help with lodging
I am planning a DH retreat for our fly fishing club. The first thing I need to find is lodging. I would like to find either cabins or a lodge, possibly associated with a campground (or a campground nearby). I don't have a specific location in mind because I feel like those that go can take off to the DH of their choice. Something in the general vicinity of the Toccoa would give us access to more choices of DH and year round streams within a short drive time but I am interested in any part of N. Ga. or W. NC. Obviously I have the new NGTO sponsor on the list to check out. Any information on other places you folks have used or know about would be appreciated. Since we have a small club, I anticipate the group being small so it would not take much to house us all.

If you're looking for lodging in western North Carolina, I would reccomend Bryson City. It's an excellant base for all types of fly fishing. There is a great cabin rental (www.bjsdeepcreekrentals.com) close to the park entrance.
By staying in Bryson City you can hit the Nantahala or Tuck for Delayed harvest, fish for Stockers on the reservation in Cherokee or target wild fish in the park.

I have not stayed at these cabins myself. I typically camp in the park at Deep Creek, but several folks have reccomended BJs rentals.
I know very little about these cabins. I just met Mr. Coleman while looking at some spec homes he is building in Blue Ridge. We talked about TU and the DH program and that is when he told me he had five cabins, right on the Toccoa, near the DH area. Here's the contact:

Moye,
Near the Nantahala DH and just up the road from Brookside Campground where Grizzz holds the frostbite. You can drive to the Tuck.

Nelson's has a big cabin that sleeps something like 10 people, maybe more. But the majority of those are bunkbeds. With a kitchen. And think of it more as a "fishing get-together" place than anything fancy. It's a bit worn.
They also have smaller cabins.
