I have not seen anything on the news up your way, but down here in the St Augustine/ Jacksonville area, we are being overwhelmed by the Red Tide. It is an algea bloom in the ocean that puts off a toxin that kills all of the fish and then causes people living near the ocean to cough, have burining eyes, and other respritory problems. I cannot even sit on my front porch and read much less go fishing or kayaking.
The beaches and intercoastal are filled with dead fish and the smell from them is incredible. It has been around for about a month now and we are all desperate. One reason I am coming up to North Carolina to try some fly fishing and enjoy the leaves. If you want to see some of the effects of the red tide with pictures, do a google search for Jax Kayak Fishing and there is a great site like this one for kayak fishing. The pictures are astounding with all of the fish kills.
You might be having your drought, but ugh, this red tide is horrible. :yikes: :bawl:
