Oct 26-28--Where would you go?

Haven't been fishing or hanging around the boards much the last couple of years, so I'm out of touch with where the fishing is these days. I'm supposed to go on a weekender Oct 26-28 but don't know where to go. Based on what I've seen around here, I'm not sure there's any water left in the world.

In a perfect world, we would be wading for trout at a pack-in destination. However, we could stay in a motel or car camp, we could fish warmwater or we could float in a canoe, all depending on what's fishing well--or at least less badly.

Driving range would be within 2-3 hrs of Chattanooga or of Rome, GA, possibly a little farther if it's necessary.

Any advice?

As you have seen the water is a little low down this way right now. I am not one to ask about hike in places to go, take one look at me and you would be able to figure that one out, but you may want to try the Nant or Tuck in NC. The other place I would look at is the South Holston and Watauga. They are close to the 3 hour drive from Chattanooga. I know they have gotten a little more rain up there then us, but not sure how much. If you have not fished up there before, it is well worth it.

Thanks for the info, Griz. We'll digest it and decide where to go. I've gotten three recs for the South Holston, so that's sounding pretty good.

Grizzz has a good story about wading the SoHo.....

Just remember that when they generate for only 1 hour, you can stay out there. Any more than 1 hour and you will have to swim across right Grizzz ::ke:

The rocks can be very slippery so take a wading staff and felt sole boots.

Access is very good at and below the weir dam.
