recipe:
thread: orange 8/0
hook: size 14 nymph hook: Mustad 9671 or similar
body:built up thread
tail: golden pheasant fibers
hackle: i got the bag mixed up but i think "yellow" saddle back(don't quote me on that:o )

instructions:

1. put bead on hook and then on vise.
2. use thread and secure a good sized thread base and bring to tail
3. cut pheasant fibers and tie off on hook
4. bring back wrap to top of heok towards beadhead
5. tie in hackle and wrap once then tie off.
6. tie towards the middle away from hackle and tail and use head cement to finish flie or however you finish it.

looks good man!

I did the exact same thing when I got into tying. try using some black thead and black hackle to make some ants.

make sure you try out that fly next time you go fish'n.

Landon, Those are some good looking flies your coming up with ,especially the spunky. It will certainly catch fish. One of my first original patterns is very similar, but mostly black and it still tears up those dh trout. When you get some tools , watch out!Be creative and have fun with it.

Landon,

You're doin' fine, bud. I'll tell you what. I've got an awful lot of tying materials. Would you mind taking some of it off of my hands? Send me a PM on where to send it and I'll get a nice little batch of stuff out to you. I've also got a copy of Trout Flies, by Dave Hughes, that I'll send you. You can give it back when you tie all of the patterns in the book. Is it a deal?

I don't know about everyone, but I was having trouble seeing Landon's tie. :bang: The photo was too dark, so I lightened it up.
