Hook 10-12 long shank
Thread Brown 6/0
Weight Lead Wire
Pinchers 2 Partridge feathers (the same size) coated with Hard As Nails
Eyes Bead chain or dumbbell eyes
Tail Brown Marabou
Shellback Brown Swiss Straw
Body Brown Leech Yarn (you can also dub, but the yarn is quicker)
Legs Black Round Rubber
Start the thread on the hook and wrap the lead wire to weight.
Tie a small bump at the bend of the hook to help separate the feather pinchers, and tie in pinchers.Tie in the beadchain eyes on the outside of the bend. This will cause the hook to ride point up.
Wrap thread to hook eye, and tie in the marabou tail. Tie it in longer than usual then trim to shape once finished.
Bring thread back to the bend, tying in rubber legs as you go
Tie in the swiss straw, and leave doubled.
Tie in the leech yarn and twist the yarn to make it a little tighter. Bring thread to hook eye. Wrap yarn once around the beadchain eyes (figure 8 style) and wrap the body. Tie in and trim.
Overwrap the body with the tying thread to the swiss straw. Tie the swiss straw down in 3-4 places to make a segmented body. Tie of at hook eye, trim, whip finish and cement.
Trim legs and marabou tail.
This is not anatomically correct as everything should be tied on the inside of the hook, with the hook riding point up. but it looks better this way.
