I'm trying to decide whether to get a tube or pontoon and had a couple questions. Being on a budge, I thought a tube was my only option because of the price, but with the CC ODC classic being so cheap, I've begun to rethink my position. I also like the idea of keeping my backside dry and not worrying about flipping over. The oars are an added bonus. My only concern is versatility. I usually fish the Hooch solo and I like the idea of being able to hike a tube upstream and float back to my vehicle. With a toon it seems like you have to have a buddy and possibly a trailer to shuttle the toons to your put in and from your take out. Is it feasible to fish the Hooch solo with toon?

I own both a float tube and and pontoon rig for the reason you stated. I love fishing from my pontoon, but there is really no way to solo trip with a toon unless you leave the rig sitting at the take out point while you hitchhike or walk back to where you put in. You pretty much have to have two vehicles or someome willing to shuttle your vehicle down to the takeout point.

On those days when it is just me (and that is most of the time) I grab my trusty Buck's Bag float tube, so I can park and wallk up river then float back down to my trusty F-150.

So if you can only afford one, I would recommend the float tube.

I've found that MOST of the time I'm using the pontoon for lakes/ponds and the tube for the hooch. I have been known to toon the hooch, but no one wants to toon close to me for fear of drowning!
