I have a modified blacknose dace here. im looking for fish in Quetico (Canada) this summer, and i thought this would work well. The pike seem to like red, and this low profile and medium weight fly should cast ok on the 5 wt im bringing (my 7 is more appropriate, but its tiring).

the body is mylar and silver tinsel, silver on bottom. i think its terrific how the dual tinsel adds flash and depth. The tail is maraboo obviously, but the cut end is tied in, not the natural end. This gets a better effect i think.
whats your thoughts?

Very nice... pike fishing up there is awesome no matter what you throw as long as it moves. Just a thought but some Flashabou or other shimmery material could be added.

My Scout bunch did the Quetico 50 years ago. Southern boys, we didn't know fish had teeth. Lost everything we had the first couple of days. The red flannel tail of a shirt, cut into small strips, gave us Pike for lunch the rrest of the trip.
