Fly Name: Midge-type emerger
Originator: Unknown
Ingredients:
Size 16-22 scud hook
6/0 UNI thread, black
bead head (brass or, if you REALLY want a heavy fly, tungsten)
lead wire (optional)
appropriately colored goose biot
fine gold wire
antron yarn
peacock herl

Recipe:
1) Put the bead on the hook
2) OPTIONAL wrap lead wire and slide it into the bead. It you don't use lead wire, use enough thread to secure the bead
3) Start the thread behind the wire and bring it to the bend
4) Tie in the gold wire
5) Pull the biot from the feather (don't cut it). Tie in the biot 'notch forward'. This will give you the segmented look when you wrap it
6) Wrap the biot forward in even, overlapping wraps up to the bead
7) Secure and trim
8) Wrap the gold wire in the same direction over the biot. Be sure keep the wire in the space between the ridges formed by the biot's trailing edge
8) Secure the wire and twist to break off the excess.
9) Wrap over the biot and wire back to the 2/3 to point
10) Tie in the antron
11) Tie in a peacock herl under the hook
12) Twist the herl around the thread 10-15 times
13) Wrap the thread/herl to form a thorax
14) Secure behind the bead and trim excess herl
15) Pull the antron forward and secure behind the bead
16) Whip finish behind the bead
17) Trim the antron to 2/3 shank-length beyond the bead
