I enjoy reading yalls reports so I thought I'd share mine.
I decided to join up with a group of kayak fishermen and head out down around Leeville, LA last weekend. It would be only my 2nd time fishing inshore from a kayak and only my 1st time trying my hand at flyfishing inshore. So needless to say I wasn't expecting to have much luck, I really just wanted to wet the new 8wt and give it a shot. Anything I caught would be lagniappe.
After waking up at around 3am, I arrived at around 6:30am (about a 3hr drive from Baton Rouge) and met up with the group. Everyone split ways and I headed up Bayou Moreau looking for a cut into the marsh on my left. I didn't realize it at the time but I was heading with the current and the wind, which proved to make a tough paddle on the way out.
I found the cut I was looking for a little further than expected and started to fish the inlet into the little lagoon that was behind it. I was throwing a clouser clumsily across the face of the wind and stripping it every so often. I knew I was in the right place because I could see the activity around me, then finally I felt the tug of a red and pulled him in.

He was just a puppy, but it was 1st on the fly so I enjoyed it. Stayed in that spot for awhile and managed to land 2 more on the clouser.

They weren't big reds by any means, but they sure were fun to catch. The last one giving me the hardest fight.
After throwing the clouser around a little while longer I started to tire with the wind. It was really causing some problems as I was not use to having to throw sitting down (my kayak is very unstable when I stand) and compensate for the wind. I'll get better with practice. My day wasn't over as I grabbed the spinning rod and started throwing an electric chicken colored soft bait under a popping cork. I managed to land another 6-7 redfish and a flounder, my first flounder ever caught. Most of the reds went around 12-16" except for one that went 21".

Those were the only 2 fish I kept and boy were they good eatin. It was a great day to be on the water (temps in the mid 70's) and I had a blast. Got some good experience under my belt too, hopefully the next time I go out it will be just as productive, if not more so.
