no prize just bragging rights. they just started this but basically you get on there and look on wednsdays at 8 pm EST and the guy will announce the fly "topic" for that week and you have an hour and a half to tie the fly. you gotta take 2 pictures though. 1 during fly construction and one of completed fly. its a fun way to spend about an hour and gives ya a reason to tie
you better bring your A game if you want to win a week though:rotfl:

Hi Rainbowlover,
Nice fly! Don't take this the wrong way, but it's obvious you've spent a lot of time at the vise over the past few months. Both your pics and your flies have really improved. Keep it up!
Just as a suggestion, here are a few things that really helped my out when it comes to taking pictures of a fly:
- If your camera has a macro setting, use it. If not, try getting as close to the fly as you can while keeping it in focus and take the pic. You can then crop and enlarge the pic to get more detail. If the camera has a high enough resolution, the pic will look as good as a pic takes with a macro setting.
- Natural lighting is best. If you can take a pic in direct or near direct sunlight, it almost always looks better (this is a matter of opinion). If you have sufficient indoor lighting, you can take a great pic, but it usually requires multiple light sources coming from multiple angles. It seems easier to me to take the fly outside and snap a pic. Just my 2 cents.
- I seem to have unsteady hands... maybe it's the caffeine. Setting your camera on a stand and using the timer to take a pic eliminates all movement and guarantees the clearest pic possible.
- Use a background color that contrasts the fly as much as possible... light fly, dark background, dark fly, light or white background.
