Modify hook and mount in vice. Start thread at eye and run thread to the bend near the eye. Tie on the gold bead chain eyes on top of the hook, (figure 8) and run thread back to approx. the hook point. Add weight and secure with thread. At this point I usually place a small drop of superglue over the lead and between the eyes.
Tie in the tail (Approx hook length) and attach the mini-garland.
Tie on the legs; one on each side so the there is enough for a front and rear leg on each side. Run the thread to behind the bead.
Wrap the garland forward, behind the legs, between the legs, and in front of the legs.
I make 2-3 thread wraps behind the bead over the garland, then bring the garland under the bead eyes and make another 2-3 thread wraps. Then take the garland up between the eyes and make several wraps behind the eyes over the garland. Then bring the thread forward and make a neat head just behind the eye, whip finish, trim thread and trim garland close to the body behind the eyes. Cement the thread head and add some cement on the threads behind the eyes.

I bow to the Master!

Great looking critter Chuck and a bream buster for sure. Can't wait to fish it at my local farm pond.

I was wondering what I could do with all these EC 214's that I have that I never use. Now if I could think of what I could use the longer lighter weight shaft EC 215 cricket hooks. Any suggestions? I have them in 8,6, and 4?

I use the 214's for just about all my wooly buggers. I don't see why you can't use the 215's for the same purpose. They would just be on a longer shank hook. Just shorten the tail. Of course, the 215's are a little more springy when tying.
BTW Several years ago, when K-Mart was going through hard times, they had a sale at some of the stores. I picked up I don't know how many 214's for 5 cents a pack of 10 hooks. I know that I bought every pack available in three stores.
Lately the 214's have been very hard to come by. Wal-Mart used to carry them, but not any longer.

I actually found some EC 214 and 215 at BPS last week. Made up several "Cherokee Piggie" zonkers in brown and fire tiger colors. Only thing I caught fish on....

Very nice, Mr. Morris. Bream/bass killers for sure.
