View Full Version : Run Forrest Run Creek
Headed out this morning heading up to N GA with Gatorbyte to fish a little crik I know. After 15 minutes of being in the car I'm quickly realizing today is going to be a long day. Roofing nails spread all over the highway, traffic backed up for miles and the highlight of the day was I didn't get a flat. :)
Finally got through that mess and things were looking better, pulled over filled up the tank and got something to eat. Upon heading back to the car I looked in the back and my wading boots were not there. :yikes: Needless to say GB gave me a fair bit of doo doo for that. No worries, I'm not going to let a little thing like that ruin the day, so off to the store to buy a pair. Needed a new pair anyway.
Finally got to our destination and suited up. There was a crisp coolness in the air and my thermometer read right at 40 degrees. I pulled out my new small stream rod and gave it a whirl.

Within a few minutes had this little guy take my fly.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k301/baldea/DSCN0378.jpg
After releasing the fish GB says something about that fish being a "dink" and he'd show me how to catch em. *Cough*
Here is the ole one eyed pirate in action.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k301/baldea/DSCN0380.jpg
Well we start jumping pools and runs and the next thing I hear is "SPLOOOOSH" and GB's standing there with a big ole grin on his face saying did you see the size of that fish rise? Man it had to be at least 25". Yeah yeah yeah needless to say I'm pretty sure there is another rock in the crik.
By this time GB's wearing me a little thin. It had been a long day and lots of ribbing coming my way from him. Normally I'd dish it right back or let it be water under the bridge. I dunno, maybe it was the lack of sleep, traffic, not catching much, him being a GATOR that wears jean shorts or just GB being GB. Personally I think he's been taking some of the meds of the kids that he works with. Throughout the day he kept babbling something about the mental ward where he works and yada yada yada.
It was now 4:30 and I had to head back to ATL. Then Brett starts whining about him only getting one hit and he's gotta get the skunk off. And I've had it, that was the final straw. I couldn't take it anymore so I picked up one of his boots and threw it done the road as far as I could and I just started laughing. He's starts off saying "oh good one Jedi Master, don't go messing with Sasquatch" and starts walking to get his boot.
I'm done by this point and can't put up with him anymore so I get in the car and drive off leaving his butt running down the road after me. Ahhh poetic justice. So if anyone heads up to the mountains this weekend he may be looking for a ride and if he makes it back or gets cell reception sooner or later tell him I've got his other boot and if he wants it back I'll gladly insert it up his #$@!.

Love the rod baldea, is it a 1wt? I need to get me one of those for the small streams.
I was wondering were you guys were when I didn't see either of you on the DH today.
Poor GB, It's going to be getting pretty cold up in the mountains tonight. Since, he has that camo shirt on, I hope no one hits him while he is on the road. Even worse he may start hearing banjo music :yikes:
Thanks for the report you guys always make it fun reading, and now we will know why GB won't be posting for awhile.
I've just got to figure out how to get the set bend out of it. Can't cast it worth a darn.

No word from GB yet? Well you know gators are cold blooded so I guess he is moving real slow until the sun warms him up a bit ::ke:
I'm serious, I left the one eyed crazy pirate running down the road. It was a good 15 miles to the nearest phone/house.
I just wish I knew exactly where his new pad is and I'd have me a whole lotta tying stuff, a second pontoon, bamboo, a few rods, ect.
Let him freeze, his "witty banter" has gone on long enough.

First of all, you didn't use any smillies so I will asume you weren't joking. (Even though you very well could have been) Second, I'm not baldea but I think it was a joke. Third, GB isn't going to win any popularity contests around here so you never know. :rotfl: ::ke:

I, too, thought this was just a joke at first..........but has anybody else noticed that Dawgbit f/k/a GAtorbite hasn't been around on here for a couple days??? Didn't see him walkin' down 515 on my back from Blue Ridge today. Think we need to call somebody?
Well on second thought..........he's a big boy.
Oh yeah............I got dibs on his PT Cruiser. Paint that awful blue thing red and black and it'll be one fine fishin' vehicle.

Well guys, I'm back safe and sound and feeling refreshed after a shower. Good to see so many of you want my stuff. All take all of you're kind thoughts into consideration. Fortunately I was able to use my Pirate skills and pillage from others around me. Luck for me I had my trusty Swiss Army knife and I was able to get a fire going. I sent up some smoke signals and my brother-in-law ended up showing up with a full compliment of supplies including some marinated rib eyes. Did some scouting and found some brookie barriers that will be fun once things warm up consistently. As far as Baldea is concerned, did anyone notice that he finally got his 1000th post. Hmmmm, interesting.

I'm starting to get a little peaved at Baldea's remorseless actions. Any thoughts from you guys as to how I can properly get back at him in a true Pirate-like manner.

Being ex-Navy, might is suggest a good old fashioned Keel-hauling;
A naval punishment on board ships said to have originated with the Dutch but adopted by other navies during the 15th and 16th centuries. A rope was rigged from yardarm to yardarm, passing under the bottom of the ship, and the unfortunate delinquent secured to it, sometimes with lead or iron weights attached to his legs. He was hoisted up to one yardarm and then dropped suddenly into the sea, hauled underneath the ship, and hoisted up to the opposite yardarm, the punishment being repeated after he had had time to recover his breath. While he was under water, a "great gun" was fired, "which is done as well to astonish him so much the more with the thunder of the shot, as to give warning until all others of the fleet to look out and be wary by his harms"
Not sure how impressive it will be to be keel hauled under an 8 foot pontoon boat, but it sure would be fun to give it a try.

Ahh, Keel Hauling on the Hooch. That is torture I wish not even on my worst enemy... except maybe Baldea ::ke:
And for your viewing pleasure, some nice streamshots from February:

hey GB, glad to hear you survived your frontier expedition.
Sad to hear you and baldea have parted ways....So Baldea when you going back up to the mountains  ::ke:
Nice pictures GB. You take those with the 790SW?
Well just keep it me in mind next time you annoy somebody and end up walking. If you have a cell signal give me a call and I'll come and pick you up ....for a fee...man gas is expensive, especially if there isn't a fishing trip involved ::ke:

It's funny how he mentions that I was annoying him.
Yes, I shot them with the 790, but I used a tripod and tricked it into a slower ****ter speed by setting it on Fireworks or night shot.
To say we parted ways may be hasty. I look forward to paying him back.
It's funny how he mentions that I was annoying him.
What are you implying that I was annoying you? Oh contrare monfrare. Every five minutes you were splashing around like a bear in a campsite. Forty false casts splashing the water. Slipping and falling and then its "I wonder what I'm doing? I can't catch anything today." Ya think? Here's your sign.
Geez maybe I need to start to think about a mutiny and become a Ninja or start my own click. We'll be dedicated to Ku'ula, the god of fishing.
Get to wear stuff like this.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k301/baldea/1041.jpg
And then I'm gonna sell my toon and fish from vessels like this.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k301/baldea/1015.jpg
Talk about being able to put cannons aimed at the "Dunkin Donut". The more I think about it, this may be a good idea.
I look forward to paying him back.
Two words......BRING IT ON
