Went out last Saturday morning hog hunting one of the nearby WMA's that had a year round stream in it that I've been wanting to fish this year that I haven't fished since before the drought. One of the local farm owners just down stream of the WMA line told me that in the 30+ years that's he's lived there that's he's never seen the creek get as low as it was last summer. It had me worried because it was one of them mountain jewels that never had anything big in it just a lot of small pretty bows. Well after I got done hunting that morning I got out my fly rod when the sun got high to try my luck. I only had an hour to fish till I had to hike back out and only brought 2 to hand but had lots of missed strikes. They were some quick little devils and very spooky the water was crystal clear and after they would strike once and miss they wouldn't strike again and I had to just move on to the next hole. I was tickled to see they was still doing well in it after last years drought. As you can see in the pictures they aren't very big the biggest I ever took from the stream in years past was 10 inches but I love catching these little gaints although small they fight like they think they weigh 10 pounds and the color on them is always amazing. Hope this rain keeps on coming like it has been to bring up the water levels some more.

I'm going to try to bring home some bacon again this Saturday. I've seen hog every time I go in but just like these little wild trout the suckers are to fast for me to get a shot and hard to sneek up on. But it sure is a blast trying and as always the scenery is beautiful. Any day that your blessed with the health to roam around in the mountains is a good day whither you catch some fish or bring down some game
