I was wondering what the possiblity is to take a pontoon boat up the trail at Paces to WW, or if the trail goes on even further?

I know you could not carry it, at least I for sure couldn't, but maybe with the wheeled carriers that attach you could. Has anyone used one, are they just for short distances?

Or even better would be to get the approval from (?) to drive up the lane, drop the poontoons off, and float back down. Anyone think there is a remote chance of something like that might being allowed if it is somehow coordinated or supervised? Maybe, some sort of shuttle on saturdays and sundays with a fee of $5.00, whatever is appropriate.

How far does the trail go btw?

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,

I agree that would be nice.

The trail goes all the way to sandy point, however it gets very steep after the area directly across the river from the steps at whitewater. Its a nice float in a tube but a little short for all the hassle involved in hauling around a toon.As far as the paved multi-use trail I don't see the park service opening it up to motor vehicles other than emergency. It's a pleasant with a tube on your back.

I just thought it would be a great float. Whether its worthwhile...I fish kind of slow, to put it mildly, and could easily make it a full day going from Sandy Point to 41. Its just really fun to work and area, and really know it, especailly when its loaded with fish, but thats me.

Thanks Sam and Curbside

get someone to drop you off at sandy point(still a good little hike )and shuttle the vehicles down to paces.I feel like the best water is between sandy point and the I-75 bridge.I usually access this water from the whitewater side via the trail carrying my tube.

I bought one of those and drilled a hole in my frame and installed it - on my pontoon, the frame is rather flimsy - better word might be lightweight - and the screw I used just wallowed out the original drilled hole to such a point it was useless. Finally made a decision that I probably needed the exercise of carrying the boat...........
