hit a small stream with MMan36 and TEE. This creek was even smaller than hospital creek! it is named for an old tree stand that we saw on the hike out and the name just seem to fit. This creek is also very fertile. There were many bugs up under rocks (stonefly nymphs, mayfly nymphs, midges and cased caddis!) and even a few adult caddis hatching! Many fish were seen but they were very spooky with the water as clear as it was! The fish were rising pretty good when you got a good drift and ya didn't spook em'. however even then there were alot of refuses.

I did manage to catch my first brookie today (in the prescensce of both MMan and TEE:D . he was sitting in a classic little hole! right next to a fallen log and in the shade of an overhanging branch. i fed that humpy down to him and he just came up and nailed it good (so good we had to cut the hook so we wouldn't kill em.) he was a fiesty male right at about 7 inches. we fished a little while longer, i took a few bug samples for my tying (found a big ol stonefly nymph and a mayfly nymph) and just shot the breeze.

afterwards we broke for a brake and decided to fish a more well known stream down the mountain that has browns and bows. Me and Mman only had an hour to fish and i switched to a little wullf as indicator and a prince off the back. i missed a few nice hits and finally set the hook into a pretty good bow of probably 8" or so. however he shook the hook and then it was time to go. in all i only caught that nice brookie but still it was a great day. A pretty fish, some good guys, and some good scenery driving up. Pretty good day if ya ask me!

Congrats on the First Brookie! I remember mine. It was in the Arkansas river south of Leadville, CO over 6 years ago and I can still see that fish.

I'll never forget my first brookie--screaming in joy in the middle of nowhere, just the bears and deer to hear me. Never been so exhilerated by a 6 inch fish. Man oh man are they gorgeous. Nice catch!

I remember my first brookie. It was on a large heavily stocked stream, on my first trout fishing trip! It was about 14 inches!:yikes: Speck and I were fishing a from a rock with an under cut on the side of the river, I just dropped the worm next to the rock. I set the hook so hard the fish just flew over my head.

I got skunked, and still had a great day!
RBL took a lot of council today, and got beat up pretty good getting instructions and pointers. i think he got a bit grumpy about it at first, but once that magnifico fish came to hand, he didnt stop smiling the rest of the day.

I didnt stop smiling for a while either. That was one pretty fish. RBL did a great job getting that fly to him, under a lot of debris, and a clutter. Perfect cast, perfect feed, perfect hook set, perfect play, and handling.

He earned that fish, it wasnt a gift.

As for everything else Endless enigma is a class act, even with his Tennessee hat. I saw him cast about 4 times today. he just let RBL lead the way, and fish all the good holes.
We all enjoyed the day, the weather was incredible, interesting trees, moss covered banks, and beautiful vistas on the drive up and back. I got a vid of RBL on the first fish too, man was he excited!!
Me too.

Atta boy, Landon!!! I even heard about this while up on the Toccoa this afternoon from Jeff D. You have now hit the pinnacle of a true trout bum. Now we just got to get you on a big Yellowstone cut or something like that out west.

Congratulations Landon. I know firsthand you take councel well and have no doubt you are on your way to becoming one legendary angler... just remember us when you're throwing curve casts in a crowded stadium snatching fleas off a dog's back :yikes:

i am sitting here with some pride over the newest and bestest young trout bum jedi in all of woodstock Jawga. I think I can say for certain that me and MM got just as much or more of a kick seeing that fish from his as much or more than if I or he had caught it ourself.

AND HE CAUGHT IT ON A BOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the die is cast!!!!!!!!

he did a fantastic down stream drift with some mending under a log through some trees... and in some current. He had to do it right!!!!!!!! He EARNED that fish.

WILD BROWN TIME!!!!!!!!!

I look forward to his next task!!!!! GWHAHAHAA

Great little brookie, that fish has some beautiful colors and thats a GOOD sized brookie!!!!!

Its nice to see there are some kids out there younger than I am that have the passion and dedication to the sport. To get better you have to play/fish with someone better than you to tune your skills and then start teaching others your findings!!!!!

Great catch RBL:D

Kudos to MM36 & TEE, now he will be crouching behind a chair in his living room practicing the bow and arrow!!!
