View Full Version : new to the area
I AM NEW TO THE AREA AND THE BOARD. I AM GOING TO BE IN THE CLAYTON AREA WITH MY SON IN TWO WEEKS AND WANT TO TAKE HIM FISHING IN THAT AREA. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGESTIONS IN THAT AREA. WE JUST WANT TO CATCH SOME FISH AND HAVE SOME FATHER AND SON TIME. THANKS FOR YOUR SUGESTIONS IN ADVANCE.
Take a look at the link. It has a lake. It also has some recommendations for nearby things to do as well as a couple several trout fishing opportunities.

If he gets frustrated easily Moccasin Creek State Park is not too far away and has a kid's fishing area that is very well stocked:

Maybe be a little more specific about what you want (are you looking for small streams?) and folks will attempt to be a bit more specific themselves.
P.S. The "all caps" typing is usually used for yelling. Folks tend to be more responsive if you turn off the "Caps Lock" button.
Hope this helps.

If your not stuck on trout you might consider Sprewell bluff state park on the flint river for shoal bass and other warm water fish.ITs south of you in the Thomaston area. The dh area of the hooch is hot right now for trout as well.

Dredger volunteered:
Primary question is: how old's his son?
His best bets for kid-friendly locales will be:
1) Wildcat Creek, with visit to Burton hatchery (and kids pond) and state park
2) Tallulah River
Good "grownup" locales would be Tallulah, upper West Fork Chattooga, or Chattooga proper (stocked at bridges).
See the northeast GA fishing guide at www.gofishgeorgia.com (http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/forum/www.gofishgeorgia.com) for more spots.
