Had the opportunity to hit this creek again. I'm liking this one more and more. Some real good deep runs and pools. I tried to do a little exploring and hit some of the runs but I was getting more flies in the laurel canopy than in the water. I guess this is what makes the small streams a real challenge. You look at a piece of water and just know there are fish in there but you just can't figure how to make a good approach. I know they were in there laughing at me. After a while, little wiggly was getting a little impatient with seeing me curse at the trees so I decided to bribe her with some fudge I picked up at the fudge shop in Dahlonega (you gotta come prepared when fishing with kids). I had enough of fighting through the cover and decided to hit the pools below the holding falls. There are a few on this creek. I was hoping to see some mayflies but there wasnt much airborne bug life so I went with a stimmie/bhp combo and started picking up some beautiful little wild browns which I had never before taken from this stream. It is primarily known as a wild bow stream, which is all I had ever caught here. I think it was the bhp. I cleaned up on browns with a bhp on the hooch this season and now this. I switched to a pt and caught 2 bows. Interesting. Anyone else seeing any fly preference by species?
If the weather holds, I'm going to hit the Cohutta headwaters later in the week and look for some brookies. The pictures on the earlier post were making me drool. If yall don't hear from me my the end of the week, then I either got skunked or stoked out making the climb out.
