What weight anchor would I need for a 9' pontoon? I recently purchased one and it weighs around 86 lbs. I'll be using it mainly on Lanier. Is there a rule of thumb to determine weight?
Any suggestions?

I'm guessing that a decimal is missing, but I think the standard for pontoons is about 8-9 lbs, with a larger (18lbs) for the multi-seat 'toons.
If you plan to use an achor in moving water, there are some issues to be aware of.
1. Anchor on the center line from a central point on the bow or stern. Do NOT tie the anchor line onto the seat frame beside you! Don't ask how I know this.
2. Expect to lose the anchor eventually.
3. Be prepared to quickly loosen or cut the anchor line. Rising water on a tailwater and a stuck anchor are a deadly combo.

I use something called a kettlebell... They are normally used for working out. I work at a sports store and we had one get stuck under a pallet and got scratched up beyond sellable condition... Cost more to have it shipped back, so I got to take it home for free. It weighs 15lbs and I haven't had a problem with stopping on the Toccoa or Hooch during low water... Haven't tried high water and not really planning on it either... Nor any problems with it getting stuck since it is round...
