Foam Divers submitted by biggatrout for the 2008 Bream Bugs Swap
Instructions etc. as presented in recipe book.
Materials:
Hook: 1/0 Daiichi style 2720 hook
orange and green egg yarn
flash
ink pads of various colors
3/8" foam cylinders

Tying Instructions:
1. Put the hook in the vice and tie in a 1-inch piece of orange/green egg yarn together combined with flash.
2. Cut one end of a cylinder of foam diagonally from top to bottom, starting about 1/4" from the front of the cylinder and cutting toward the front. This creates a sloping face that gives the fly the ability to dive.
3. Cut from the rear of the fly forward half way through the cylinder towards the front of the fly, stopping about 1/4" from the front (this gives a nice hole for the hook to rest in).
4. Push the eye of the hook through the diagonal in the foam, placing the body of the hook inside the fly.
5. Glue shut, and paint to your liking.
6. Tie onto your favorite flyrod and hang on!
Notes on the fly:
these flies are probably a little more bass than bream, but they do work!
