#8 FE Madam X Recipe:
Hook: #8 3x long curved Shank
Thread: UTC 70 Yellow
Tail: Cow Elk Hair, I only had Mule Deer
Body: Chartreuse 2mm craft foam (cut into about 1/8” width strips)
Over wing: Moose Maine, I used some course dark Hair
Bullet Head: Cow Elk, I used the Elk I had
Legs: Barred Yellow & Black Sili legs. I took plain yellow and barred them.

The best way for me to show you how to tie this fly is to link you to the video I used. The only difference is instead of using the yarn for the body, I used the foam to enhance the floating ability of this larger fly.
In this video he uses Griffins handy bullet head making tool. I just used a pen cap to push Elk hairs back.

I made it out to Lanier to test it out and was able to bring in a couple small bass and multiple bream on this fly. The addition of the foam also makes it possible to drop a weighted fly off of it without it easily sinking.
